Control and Optimisation in Smart Grids

The rising number of distributed energy resources, i.e. renewable energy systems, energy storage systems and active loads, has enabled the transformation of the power grid from a centralised network towards a decentralised and smart grid. The concept of smart grid requires new decision and control mechanisms for the integration, planning and optimal operation of distributed energy resources to achieve a reliable and resilient power network infrastructure. The aim of this session is to bring together researchers and industrialists from both the control and power systems communities to join forces towards addressing various emerging issues in modelling, control design, stability, optimisation, communication and protection of modern power systems and smart grids. The topics of this Open Invited Session are specifically related (but not limited to) to the following methods and application areas:

To encourage participation and sharing of best practice, we are accepting contributions which are abstract only, that is, there is no need for a full publishable paper although of course you are welcome to write one should you feel this is appropriate for your input.
